The Ostby Barton ring has a long history. Nathan B. Barton founded the company on July 1, 1879, in Providence, Rhode Island. Ostby was a goldsmith from Norway who immigrated to the United States. He is one of the company’s co-founders. This company grows to become the largest manufacturer of gold rings in the United States.

He becomes a very successful jeweller beginning in 1906. He and his daughter Helen visited Europe to see new ring styles and to purchase gemstones for his jewellery business. So, in 1912, it was time to embark on a journey to Providence, Rhode Island. On the Titanic; he and his daughter are travelling first class.

After the iceberg collision, the father and daughter waited for the life raft, but the temperature was so high that they returned to their cabin to get warmer clothes. When he is not return, his daughter is force to go to the lifeboat without his father. She was save. Ostby Barton was co-owned by Helen and her sister or brother. Ostby Barton jewellery was discontinue by the company in 1950. Helen died in 1978; at the age of 88.

So, Ostby Barton, a division of the Contact Products Group, designs and manufactures custom contact probes for testing bare and loaded printed circuit boards. Prior to this, Ostby and Barton made masonic jewellery for both; men’s and women’s use. Art Deco rings; filigree rings; cameo rings, and other ornate Victorian styles were popular at the time, and they are still popular today.

Due to their excellent craftsmanship, the Ostby & Barton jewellery company was highly sought after by fine antique jewellery collectors. Ostby Barton Masonic ring was made, but no one knows when it was made. The Ostby Masonic ring dates back at least 50 years.
